Pandan Thai Restaurant

Wennie and I had Thai food at Pandan Thai Delight Restaurant, located at BDC. Before that, we had a drink at Taipei 101 around 4:30pm. After that, we went for a walk at the shoplots there. We visited a wine shop and Green Gallery. We reached the restaurant at 6:30pm.

After browsing the menu, we ordered Tom Yam with Prawn in Red Soup and Thai Style Royal Fried Rice. For drinks, I have ordered Water Chestnut and Sago in Coconut Milk while Wennie has ordered Ice Lemon Tea.

Water Chestnut and Sago in Coconut Milk.

This dessert was nice. The bowl and spoon were made from coconut shell. Nice to have it during hot days.

Tom Yam with Prawn in Red Soup.

The soup was nice and hot. The prawns were small and more prawns should be added into it. Recommended to try it out.

As we were extremely hungry, I have forgotten to take a snap shot of Thai Style Royal Fried Rice. The dish is served with meat, salted egg, cucumbers and vegetables. The rice was soft and fragrant.

P/S: Thank you to Wennie for the treat.

Merry Chirstmas

Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual holiday that marks the traditional birthdate of Jesus of Nazareth. Christmas combines the celebration of Jesus' birth with various other traditions and customs, many of which were influenced by ancient winter festivals such as Yule and Saturnalia. Christmas traditions include the display of Nativity scenes and Christmas trees, the exchange of gifts and cards, and the arrival of Father Christmas (Santa Claus) on Christmas Eve. Popular Christmas themes include the promotion of goodwill, giving, compassion, and quality family time.

Merry Christmas!!!

Koreana Restaurant

I went to Koreana Restaurant to celebrate Wennie's belated birthday on 16/12/2006(Saturday) with my friends - Diana, Wennie, Jamie, EJ and Robin. Koreana Restaurant is located opposite Hilton Hotel Kuching, same row with Scoops Ice Cream. We reached there around 7:15pm.

I have booked a room for dinner. Be prepared. Something gonna happen inside the room. Hehe. The room is quite big with two big tables. We have ordered 4 dishes.

From left: Diana, Wennie, Robin, Jamie and EJ.

Here's the dishes we have ordered.

Dish 1: Bibimbap.

Bibimbap is a popular Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice" or "mixed meal." Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with sauteed and seasoned vegetables, beef, a fried egg, and gochujang (chile pepper paste). The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating.

This dish was nice. The rice was soft and lots of ingredients can be found inside. A perfect and recommended dish.

Dish 2: Beef Bulgogi.

Bulgogi is one of Korea's most popular beef dishes. It is made from thinly sliced sirloin or another prime cut of beef. The meat is marinated with a mixture of soy sauce, pear purée, sesame oil, black pepper, garlic, onions, ginger, wine and sugar. It is marinated for two to four hours to enhance the flavor and its tenderization. Bulgogi is traditionally grilled, but broiling or pan-cooking is common as well. Whole cloves of garlic, sliced onions, and chopped green peppers are often grilled or cooked at the same time. It is often served to non-Koreans as a first taste of Korean cuisine. This dish is usually served with a side of lettuce or other leafy vegetable, which is used to wrap a slice of cooked meat, oftentimes along with a dab of ssamjang, kimchi, or other side dishes, and then eaten as a whole. Bulgogi literally means "fire meat" in Korean.

This dish was quite nice. The meat was tender and juicy. However, I still prefer bulgogi from Seoul Garden near 3rd mile.

Dish 3: Crispy Pork

This dish was just ok. Nothing special about it. Forgive me for the name of this dish as I have forgotten the name for it.

Dish 4: Korean Noodles.

This dish was normal. The noodles is similar to vermicelli or glass noodles. Forgive me for the name of this dish as I have forgotten the name for it.

White Lady Cake.

We bought this cake from Taka for Wennie. It is called White Lady. The top of the cake was coated with white chocolate. The cake inside was vanila sponge cake. Nice to try. :D

After eating the cake, we gave Wennie a special present. Hehe. I bought this present from Minoshe in Sarawak Plaza. Surprise! The present was a set of Pierre Cardin bra and panty. I thought of buying this as Wennie's present when I was shopping with Tze Woei inside Minoshe on 30/11/2006 (Thursday).

After having fun, we left Koreana Restaurant and we went to Hilton Hotel. We have taken some photos there at the lobby. The lobby was decorated with Christmas tree. Nice spot to take photo.

Later, we went to McDonald's Restaurant at 3rd mile for supper. We ordered Sundae cones, french fries and drinks.

Happy 24th Birthday to Wennie.

Sarawak State Government Excellent Service Award Dinner

On Monday (11/12/2006), CyberPredator and I joined a dinner held by the Sarawak State Government at Crowne Plaza Riverside Kuching. The dinner was a prize giving ceremony for outstanding officers cum farewell dinner to Datuk Amar Aziz as Sarawak State Secretary.

Luckily I managed to go to CyberPredator's house after picking my Taiwan friend, Jenny from Kuching International Airport. After taking a bath, we departed around 6:45pm. It was raining heavily. What the Heck!!! We reached Crowne Plaza's Banquet Hall 1 at Level 3 approximately 7:15pm. We parked our vehicle at basement carpark of Crowne Plaza.

We met Audrey and Michelle from ICTU, CMD at the entrance to the Hall. We were sitting on the same table.

Out of curiosity, we browsed through the menu for tonight. We were quite satisfied with the menu for tonight.

Tonight's Menu.

Closer Look of Tonight's Menu.
Finally, the food were served around 8:00pm. We were extremely hungry!!! We Want FOOD!!!
Dish 1: River Palace Cold Cuts Combination.
The River Palace Cold Cuts Combination was very nice. There are four types of food (Prawn Salad, Cuttlefish, Chicken Roll, and Chicken Ham) served in the dish.
Dish 2: Sea Cucumber Soup with Seafood.
The soup was nice with the smell of seafood. However, only few tiny sea cucumbers found. It would taste better if black vinegar added into the soup.
Dish 3: Deep-fried Boneless Chicken with Shredded Mango.
The chicken was nice. The dish is cooked ala Thai style. Hot, sweet and sour. More shredded mango should be added.
Dish 4: Fried Rice with Dried Scallops, Chicken & Mushrooms in Lotus Leaf.
The rice was perfectly cooked. the smell and taste of chicken, scallops and mushrooms are captured inside the rice. Nice. I had two bowls of rice. :D
Dish 5: Steamed Seasonal Fish "Teochew" Style.
I did not take the fish as I don't eat fish. The fish was nice according to the rest who took the fish.
Dish 6: Buttered Prawn "River Palace".
The prawn was fresh and the butter sauce was thick and creamy. The prawn was not that crispy.
Dish 7: Braised Hong Kong Kai Lan with Dry Scallop Sauce.
The Kai Lan was just OK. I Prefer baby Kai Lan. The taste was just nice.
Dish 8: Chilled Longan with Almond Beancurd.
The dessert was simple and nice. The smell of pandan was quite strong. More ingredients such as pineapple cubes should be added.
That's the end of the food served.
Datuk Amar Aziz Mixed Around with the Guests.
Datuk Amar Aziz walked around and took photo with the guests during the night.
Waitress During the Dinner. :D
I took the photo of this waitress because she looks nice from the back and sideway. You will feel quite disappointed if you look from the front. She is not so good looking.
P/S: Some of the photos above obtained from CyberPredator. Thank you.
